Costco Q3 2025 Trends
Every week, you’ll find our team walking the aisles of clubs across the nation, gathering insights and emerging trends for our clients. Our August 2025 recap included the following insights:
▪️ Early price increases of 5-10% are surfacing in categories like hardware and home goods, driven by higher China sourcing. Some suppliers are tweaking pack sizes and pricing to preserve value, with additional increases likely coming in 2H25 and 2026.
▪️ Halloween décor hit floors as early as June, with big-ticket Christmas buys. Early arrivals hedge against shipping volatility and extend selling windows, but could tighten replenishment timelines and boost markdown risk… or sell out fast, freeing space for new finds.
▪️ Food and snack buyers are prepping for an above-average influx of “Better-for-You” items in January resets. Brands may stand out by skipping the January rush and leaning into late-Q1 promotions when more space (and shopper attention) is up for grabs.
▪️ Select high-volume clubs are piloting “Pre-Scan & Pay,” where employees pre-scan smaller carts to ease congestion. While not a full Scan & Go offering, it signals a strategic move toward a smoother peak-hour experience and more tech upgrades ahead.
